Mitcheal Allen Cooksey Sr., beloved brother, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully May 2nd, 2009. He spent many summers camping, fishing and four-wheeling with his brother Jerry and his grandchildren, Jorge Delgado Jr, Jeri Joseph Delgado, and Sebastian Alexander Maupin. Dad was affectionately known to his grandchildren as "Tata". He loved his grandchildren very much and would do anything to guarantee their happiness and safety. For those of you that knew him, you knew he was a true patriot. As a Vietnam veteran, he had a great love and admiration for the service men who had sacrificed much to ensure the freedom of his loved ones. In his spare time he visited the disabled soldiers at the local VA hospital. He retired as an aircraft mechanic after 20 years of Civil Service in the United States Air Force. Upon retirement, he returned to the Moscow area to be closer to his family where he spent the remainder of his days.
He is survived by his children, Geraldine Maupin and Mitcheal Cooksey Jr., brother Jerry, sister Sharon Anderson, grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He's reunited with his mother and father, Geraldine and Raymond Cooksey, his brother Raymond, sisters Maxine Brannan and Connie Hingston, and his daughters Shay and Anamarie.
A graveside service will be held at Moscow Cemetery on Saturday May 9th 2009 at 10am. A reception will be held for family and friends after the service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on the corner of Mountain View and Joseph in Moscow, ID.
Instead of purchasing flowers we request that you make a donation in his name to the Troy Baseball Field in the Troy School District, 103 W. 5th, Troy, ID 83871 or to the Troy Ambulance Fund at 512 S Main St, Troy ID 83871.
We love you Dad.
