Inez Youvon Holmes, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 91. She was born on Thursday, November 25, 1926 to Frank and June Pearl (Beck) Gapen in Long Pine, NE. Youvon grew up in Nebraska where she received her education, graduating from high school as a Valedictorian in 1943. After gradation Youvon started working in the cafeteria at Fort Robinson, NE where she met Henry Holmes. Youvon and Henry were married on Tuesday, August 15, 1944. They moved to Uvalde, TX and began ranching then moved to Zephyr, TX where they raised chickens, turkeys, and cattle. In 1962, they moved to Sallisaw then on to Checotah in 2004. They were married and worked side by side for 65 years. Youvon loved quilting. Henry was known to measure and cut her fabric for her to sew into quilts. She loved her church work and was involved in the Homemaker’s Club. She loved her family and loved being right in the middle of all family gatherings. Youvon was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Henry Holmes. Service will be held Jan. 16 at Checotah Church of Christ at 12 p.m.
