Notes |
- From the Halifax Co., VA personal property tax record, it seems clear that Bolling Whitlow moved from Meck. Co., VA where he was living with his father, Nicholas Whitlow, to Halifax Co., VA to the farm of his Uncle Thomas Whitlow in the same year that Thomas died.
Perhaps Thomas asked his brother Nicholas to send Bolling over to help him tend his farm or bring in a crop. Bolling continued to lived on the farm (and show on tax records) on Bluewing Creek until the Spring of 1806. That must have been when Bolling and his new bride, Mary Eliz. Stewart, moved to the Abbeville District in South Carolina. Bolling's brothers and father had just moved to South Carolina (Union Dist.) a few years before (this from Nicholas Whitlow's Rev. War pension application and land records in Union Co., SC.) And, as you may know, Bolling Whitlow moved to Clarke Co., GA in 1809, Walton Co., GA in 1822 and Walker Co., GA in 1836.
