- OBITUARY of Reuban Howe Bryan:
Reuben Howe Bryan was born in Wabash County, Indiana, July 12, 1862,and died at the home of his daughter in Russell, Kansas July 6, 1940lacking only six days of being 78 years old. He came to Manhattan, Kansaswith a family named Morris and after 20 years in Pottawatomie county, hecame to Morris county and settled on a farm in the Fairview community.This farm he owned until the time of his death. In 1888 he married LuellaBrolyer. To this union four children were born. One daughter Vera Rose,passed away in 1916 just a year after her mothers passing. He is survivedby two daughters Mrs. Faye A. Phelps of Chicago and Mrs. Ruth Neff ofRussell, Kansas: one son Howe Brolyer Bryan of Salt Lake City and onefoster son F.H. Manning of Parkville; also 17 grandchildren.
In 1918 he was married to Mary Meadows who passed away in 1929.Brother Bryan first united the Church in Indiana and has been a faithfuland loyal member for 60 years and an elder in the Council GrovesChristian Church for over 30 years.
In his community he served on the school board and as townshiptrustee for several terms. He was highly respected in his community forhis integrity and trustworthiness. He represented the highest type ofChristianity, both in his loyalty to the church and in his everydayChristian life. The community pays tribute to his splendid character.

Reuben Howe Bryan was born on July 12, 1862. I'm not sure where hewas born but believe it was Roann, Ind.
He married Luella Brolyer on Feb. 14, 1889. To his union 4 childrenwere born; Faye on Mar 11, 1890, Howe Brolyer May 9, 1894, Ruth Mar 7,1896 and Vera on Nov 15, 1899. Luella died on Sept 25, 1915. Vera diedOct 25, 1916. Reuben Howe Bryan married Mary (Mamie) Goff Meadows (awidow) on Feb. 21, 1918. She passed away Dec. 7, 1929 in Council Grove,Kan.
Reuben Howe passed away July 6, 1949 in Russel, Kan. He and bothwives are buried in Council Grove, Kan. He was just 6 days short ofbeing 78 years old.
