Mildred "Agnes" York, 80, of Bloomington, passed away Wednesday October 28, 2009, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Virginia. She was the daughter of Walter H. and Mary (Agnor) Sorrells, born May 27, 1929, in Lexington, VA.
She had worked 18 years at Haag Drug Store. She also worked for Poplars and Fireside Inn and retired from Indiana University working in the cash office
She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church. She also was the current president and almost 50 year member of the Kappa Delta Phi Philanthropic Sorority. She was very dedicated and attended many national conventions and was a tireless worker for the Kappa Delta Phi Sorority food booth at the Monroe County Fair.
She is survived by her three children, Sandra Black and husband Alex, Robert Vincent and wife Janet, and Greg Vincent; three grandchildren, Heather Umphress and husband Dave, Christopher Vincent and Stephanie Vincent; two great-great-grandchildren, Kallahan Umphress and Dalton Umphress; and three sisters, Molly McNutt and husband Rice, Edith Entsminger and husband Page, and Faye Vess and husband Charles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William York (Sept. 2008); and sister, Shirley Sorrells.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at Allen Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
