He lost his father to the Civil War and never enjoyed the security of a father.
A true pioneer of the Bitterrot Valley.
He traveled by covered wagon in 1886 from Missouri to the Bitterroot valley because of his wifes health. He brought three of his children with him. They settled in Stevensville, MT his wifes health greatly improved. He worked hard in the valley and farmed. He loved to go fishing.
He brought an old mantel clock on his trip to Montana and handed it down through my family. I have the clock and it is now 128 years old as of this year 2011.
