She traveled by covered wagon in 1886 from Missouri to the Bitterroot valley because of her health. She brought three of her children with her. They settled in Stevensville, MT Her health greatly improved and she lived a few months shy of 100. My brother was the first grandchild born that was 6 generations apart. She held him in her arms and pictures were taken and stories written about her and him (Terry Goddard) in the local Ravalli Republic newspaper. She brought an old mantel clock on her trip to Montana and handed it down through my family. I have the clock and it is now 128 years old as of this year 2011.
