We can assume they acquired their middle name from their grandfather or great-grandfather Paschal R. Brown. In addition, we have DNA matches with a Rhoda 'Reese' Brown family of Bedford, Virginia. We can assume that ‘Reese’ and not the earlier spelling of 'Reis' is Paschal's correct middle name and spelling. Furthermore, the name Reis is of Germanic origins and Paschal was not of Germanic origins. I have never found documents in my many years of research that show the spelling of 'Reis' or 'Reese' for Paschal's middle name. It only shows the letter ‘R’. However, based on the circumstantial evidence we can assume that 'Reese' is the correct spelling. More research is needed. Update: Evidence gathered from a phone conversation on August 15, 2024 with Mr. (Living) Brown who is a great great grandson of Pascal stated that his brother Mr. (Living) Brown was named after his great great grand father Pascal Reese Brown.
