Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas to the union of John Jefferson Brown, birthplace Tennessee and Lucindia C Hudson, birthplace Madison County, Arkansas. Henry's father, John, had a truck farm and also was a retail merchant of groceries in Greenlee Co., Arizona. Henry had two brothers, William J. who was a government trapper for the Apache National Forest and Robert Norway. He also had four sisters, Lavina Lee, Bertha Mae, Dovie Bell and one dying in infancy. Henry married Ada Marie Weaver sometime after 1920. Together they had three daughters; Damaris Marie (Campbell), b 1927, Alice Wilma (Wilkerson), b.1928, Theva Lucille (Goodner), b. 1930 and a son Albert Doyle, b. 1932. As was common Henry worked at numerous jobs throughout the area to make a living for his growing family. They included, stockman, farmer, laborer, for the highway department and then at the Morenci copper mine as an oiler in the ball mill.
