- Okolona Messenger Obituary: Services Held Saturday for Mrs.
Fleming - Funeral services for Mrs. Effie Davidson Fleming,
widow of Wiley P Fleming, were held at 2 p.m. last Saturday
from the family home on South Olive Street. Revs. Dick Duncan
and Allison Bell officiated and burial followed in Oddfellows
Cemetery with Barry Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Fleming, who
was 88, died at 10:40 last Thursday night in the Okolona
Community Hospital after an extended illness. A native of
Pontotoc County, she had made her home in Okolona for the past
50 years. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian
Church. Her husband preceded her in death 20 years ago. She
leaves three daughters, Mrs. Jewel Ashmore, Mrs. Gerald Walker
(Iris), both of Okolona, and Mrs. L W Lott (Wilma) of
Hattiesburg; one sister, Miss Dovie Davidson of Troy; one
grandchild and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers were her
nephews, Ernest Kelly, Marcus Kelly, both of Tupelo, Glen
Davidson of Pontotoc, Gene Dallas, Andrew Johnson and Larry
Britt, all of Okolona.
