  During the Civil War, Stoneman raided Iredell Co and destroyed a lot of the residents belongings. When Prudie Davidson realized her horse was gone, she went down to the crossroads and waited for the soldiers to come back through. When they did, she recognized her horse and grabbed the reins. The rider cut her face with his whip. When she cried out that she was a widow and had no other support, the captain made the soldier return the horse to her.
