After an illness of about two years, Mrs. Wallace Smith, wife of a
well-known North Western engineer, died at a hospital in Omaha last evening at 5:10. Mrs. Smith's condition had been serious for several weeks. A post

afterwards resided in Fairbury, Neb. From there Mrs. Smith, whose name was
then Leora Bell Rite, came to Fremont in 1890. She was married to Mr. Smith
February 23, 1891. Their residence in Fremont since that time has been
continuous. Mrs.Smith won many warm friends, who regarded her highly. A few
years ago she united with the Presbyterian church. The immediate surviving
relatives are the husband and one daughter, Mrs. Hope Nelson. There are three brothers, residing in Dixon, Ill., Princeton, Mo., and Evergreen, Colo., and one sister residing at Trenton, Kas.
