There was one other entry on those records. That was an entry listed as punishment. On September 11, 1896 he was given 30 L for Laziness.
I have also got copies of of the Indictments and court records concerning the imprisonment of Ison Taylor Anderson, the son of Martha Jane and James Anderson.
It seems that Isom Taylor Anderson was indicted in 1895 and tried for two separate offenses. One of those was for theft of a buggy and the other for stealing a horse. He was tried separately for these two offenses with two separate juries. The trials both took place on the same day in Coryell Co., Texas. He was found guilty in both trials and was sentenced to 7 years in the case of stealing the horse and 3 years for stealing the buggy. I guess he was quite lucky that he only got 7 years for stealing the horse. In most cases he would have been hanged as a horse theif, a major crime in those days.
He served only five years before being paroled/pardoned with his full citizenship restored as well as his voting rights. That was in 1900. I now find where there was an Isom T. Anderson who died in Navarro Co. in 1921. I have not ordered a copy of this death certificate, but this is probably our Isom T. Navarro Co. and Coryell Co. have a common border. He must have remained in the area after his release from prison.
