Nov. 1812 Inventory of Estate in Wake Co., NC. (He is listed on estate sale of his sons' father-in-law in May 1812)
I have a note from the records of Paul Sorrells of Houston, TX who descends from Hardy Sorrell that in an 1812 Wake Co. NC inventory of estate that lists Matthew, John, Wm, Jacob, Elizabeth, and Elijah Sorrell as being brothers and sisters. Also listed in the estate were Patty and Anne Sorrell.
Sorrell, William, dec'd Inventory Nov 1812, Wake Co., NC p 343: "Livestock; household goods; farm tools; tack. Elizabeth X Sorrell"
"Heirs of my brother, William" are listed on the Will of Patsy Barbee, to receive 20 shillings, dated 1 Jan 1818, probated Feb 1818.
List of children come from the Pettigrew Manuscripts by Marion DeWoody Pettigrew, Pine Bluff, AR Library holdings, pg 80. I believe that the children listed under Elijah should be William's children. This list includes a Needham. (I believe that the informant simply skipped a generation.) This is due to the Wake Co., NC connections and the use of the name Needham within the other children of William.
"I have the history of the Sorrell family since they first settled in Maine, 1756. As far back, as I can trace there were two brothers that came from Maryland 1750, one settled in North Carolina, and the other in Virginia, the latter's name I do not know. Elijah settled in North Carolina, he had six sons all of whom were soldiers in the Revolution. (I believe that here is where a generation has been skipped-leaving out William.-Sherry Sorrells Finchum) Their names were John, Needom, Matthew, Curtice, Elijah, Jacob. Jacob, my ancestor had three sons one of whom was named John, who fought with his father in the War of 1812. John had four sons, Lemuel, my grandfather, Jacob, Orey, John. Lemuel moved from North Carolina,1827, to Louisiana, later he came to Tennessee where he died, leaving four sons, and five daughters. (Written by N.C. SORRELLS from Dyer Co., TN)
Based on Rebecca Blackwell's research, all of the (Pettigrew) children are listed as William's except Needham. Needham is not listed in her research. Needham had gone to GA for the land grants. Also, the Needham that went to GA is a match with the DNA project to the other descendants of Edward.
