JOHN AND EL1ZAHETH (SORRELL) LYNN
(son of James Lynn - dau. of Edward Sorrell)
I. Edward Lynn, probably the oldest son, mar. in Wake Co. Dec 11, 1801, with her brother, James, as sec, Penelope "Penny" Motley, b. Wake Co. ca 1783, dau of Capt. John and Elizabeth (Page) Motley. Edward was not mentioned in his father's will. See Penelope (Motley) Lynn, page 12.
II. Martha "Patsy" Lynn mar. in Wake Co, with her brother, James, as security Edwin Motley, son of Captain John and Elizabeth (Page) Motley. Edwin was a brother to Edward Lynn's wife, Penny Motley. See Edwin Motley, pg. 12.
III. Matthew Lynn mar. in Wake Co., Feb 21, 1804, Amy Hopson, dau of Thomas Hopson. Matthew and Amy chose not to emigrate to KY with the others and remained in Wake Co. They are listed in the 1820 census.
IV. James Lynn is mentioned in his father's will.
V. William Lynn mar. Nov 5, 1808 in Wake Co. with John Sorrell, sec. and William Hill, witt., Patsy Barbee, dau of Christopher Barbee II and his wife, Laodicea (Hopson) Barbee. Laodicea later mar. James Motley, a brother to Penny and Edwin Motley. William and Patsy chose to remain in NC.
VI. John Lynn, b. ca 1781, mar. Oct 30, 1809 in Wake Co. with John Sorrell, sec. and Wkn. Hill, witt., Polly Wood. They moved to Allen Co.,, KY sometime after 1814. They are listed in the Allen Co. 1820 census - lm If 26-45; lm 4f under 10. In the 1830 census - lm 40-50; If 50-60; lm 15-20; 2f 10-15; If 5-10. On Aug 13, 1849 in Allen Co., Thomas Ayres was appointed adm of the estate of John Lynn, dec. by intestate bond of $9,000 with Zachariah Motley and Hardy Weatherspoon, Sec. John A. Motley, Joseph V. Cockrill, Harrison Boucher and James Landers appraised his personal estate and slaves.
VII. Joseph Lynn may have come to KY with his older brother, John. He mar. in Warren Co., KY on Mar. 7, 1817, Susannah Willoughby, dau of John and Elizabeth (Armstrong) Willoughby and grdau. of Anthony Willoughby. The bond reads "Mar. 7, 1817 Bond for Joseph Lane and Susanna Willoby, John Willoby, Surety, Joseph Lane over age of 21, and Susanna Willoby, dau. of said John Willoby." The marriage license was issued to Joseph Linn. Susannah was b. in Wake Co., NC ca 1796. Joseph died in 1826 - his estate sale was Oct 16, 1826. The exec, of his estate were Edwin Motley and John Willoughby. After Joseph's death, Susanna
mar. Dec 21, 1837 in Allen Co., Thomas Hopson, who probably died before 1850. In the 1850 Allen Co. census, Susan Hobson, age 54, is living with her son,
