CANTON -- Janette Brown Henson, 79, of 287 Mountain Grove Road, Canton, died Monday, June 12, 2000, at Mission St. Joseph’s Health Care System.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Walker and Eulalah McCracken Brown. She retired from American Enka Corp. She attended Riverside Baptist Church and was a member of the Sonoma Chapter 254 Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harrison Henson, who died in 1979; her second husband, JT Sorrells, who died in 1999; a son, Howard Wallace Henson; a sister, Ruth Welch; a step-granddaughter, Debbie Fuller; and a great-grandson, Brandon Jeb Henson.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Jim and Pauline Henson of Canton and Richard and Jimmie Ellen Henson of Waynesville; two daughters and their husbands, Gail and Doug Moore of Savannah, Ga., and Janie and Vaughn Sorrells of Canton; two sisters, Lois Long and Wilda Loomis, both of Waynesville; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Terrell officiated.
Pallbearers were Jeff and Steve Sorrells, Rick and Mark Henson, Webb Moore and Norman Long.
The family received friends at the home of her daughter, Janie Sorrells, 45 Sherrill Lane, Canton.
