Notes |
- In 1900 Lawrence Co, TN Census, A C and Mary are enumerated in the same household as their dau, Alice b abt 1866/7, wife of Robert L HAMBY / HANBY, and grandson, Eugene age 9 (b abt 1890/92).
I have not been able to find any trace of the HAMBY's / HANBY's after 1900, incl Eugene. I think Alice may have been Robert's 2nd wife.
My f-i-l's double 1st cousin (Lilly FREEMAN HARRIS) knew Alice was m to a HAMBY / HANBY and abt Eugene who was close to her age. Lilly thought they may have gone to TX, but I've tried to find Eugene in the 1900 - 1930 Census records w/ no luck.
I've yet to find out what happened to Alice's sister, Lula, though Killis' CSA pension application states she was married and living as late as 1906. Mary died bef the 1906 papers were filled out.
Don't know where she's buried, but Killis is buried w/ other members of Nat's family at Head Springs Cemetery, Belfast, Marshall Co, TN (a few miles south of Lewisburg just west of the road to Petersburg and Fayetteville). Janice snibbor13@juno.com
