- Obituary for Lindy Rector Kent

On the 15th of December forty four years ago Lindy Rector was born not far from the spot at Dry Pond where she was laid to rest, Sunday Afternoon November 7, 1920.
The sudden death of one so well known as Mrs. Kent has come as a great shock to the whole community.
Only a week ago, she had been among the first of Little Pine's patriotic women to cast a vote for President. That afternoon found her for a while with her boys helping in a corn shucking and as night came on she was back in her home caring for her little ones.
The next morning found her in bed. Three days of intense suffering and the end came late Friday afternoon in the Meriwether Hospital at Asheville where she had been taken hoping that an operation might bring the needed relief.
Mrs. Kent has been a good mother and faithful wife.
She was married December 25,1895, to Mr. Rufus Kent who together with nine children are living to mourn her loss. She is also survived by her mother, one brother and five sisters.
A large number of friends and relatives gathered at the home Saturday night and Sunday to pay the last tribute to Mrs. Kent. The hearts of all are touched with sympaty for the little ones left so early motherless for "A mother is a mother still the holiest thing alive."
May God watch over and care for the family through the coming years is the prayer and wish of their many friends.
