The Property on Berry Clark Way:
Bill and Margaret Woltemate purchased the 6 acre land plot, which included the Cantilever barn, from Clark family in about 1967. Barn Hill was built by Bill and Margaret Marion Woltemate in about 1968 after Bill retired. Margaret Marion took lots of photographs of the entire progress of the house on Barn Hill being constructed.
They moved into the house about 1968. Bill retired in 1968 as a Mounted Detroit Policeman. He and Marion loved Gatlinburg and found the land for sale and they moved there. Their address was Buckhorn Road, Routh 1, Gatlinburg, TN 37738
2115 Berry Clark Way is the address of the Barn Hill house where Emma Deane Clark Ingle and William Woltemate lived when they were first married.
They sold the house to the President of the First National Bank of Gatlinburg (Brent Mills) when they moved to the condominium in the same area. The Mills added several large additions to the house. Mills and his wife, Sandy, separated and Brent committed suicide at an apartment where he was living, and the house was sold.
Mills sold to another owner. Denis knocked on the door, and a widow, who had recently lost her husband, didn’t want to talk with him.
It was then sold to a Real Estate Broker for $950,000 in 2022. He then renovated the inside.
In 2024, Denis Woltemate visited with the current owner. The barn had been renovated to make it livable.
The house was listed on the market for $2.5 million for the house and 4 acres. It is listed as an overnight rental property. It does not include the barn. The barn was listed separately at one time. “The Barn at Buckhorn” is listed as an overnight rental property in 2024.
