- Following his discharge from the Army he returned to school and received a B. A. degree from East Central University, Ada, Oklahoma in 1924. Following graduation he taught school for three years. Seeing no future in teaching, he moved to Houston, Texas, and went to work for The Texas Company. Here he met Ester Aline Harris, and on March 30, 1928 they were married.
Shortly after their marriage, he left The Texas Company and accepted a position with the Chevrolet Division of General Moors Corporation. For the next 37 years, and until his retirement in 1965, he held many responsible positions with GM. Assignments include Sales Promotion Manager in El Paso and Dallas. In 1937 he was promoted and transferred to Detroit, Michigan. Inital assignment was the Sales Promotion Department, Chevrolet Motor Division. Later, he was promoted as National Director, Merchandising and Training, Chevrolet Motor Division, General Motors.
Shortly after the start if World War II, the entire resources of GM were converted to wartime production. During this time he wrote many programs for the National Red Cross, Army Ordnance
recruiting programs, scrap drives, blood donar drives, payroll savings drives, etc.
After WWII, he developed Chevrolet's plans for recuiting and training dealers, sales managers and salesmen for the postwar market. He became Zone Manager of the Atlanta and Charlotte Zones. In 1950 he was promoted to Assistant Regional Manager, Southwest Region, Dallas, Texas, where he remained until his retirement in 1965.
He is a Mason and a Shriner.
