  He was sick from rabbit fever that he got from a sick rabbit while hunting in Po-Grab. The dog killed the rabbit and he smacked the dog with the rabbit, perhaps as a disciplinary action, and he got the fever and became very ill, but lived through it. He died of kidney problems.
