Mr. Jimmy T. Richardson, age 87, of Shelbyville, passed away, Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Graveside services will be 2:30 Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 10 AM until 2 PM Saturday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.
He was born November 24, 1925, in Bedford County, to the late Thomas Minor and Lillian Gill Richardson. He was a successful local businessman that was known for starting the local skating rink, beginning the first city wide bus service, and school bus service. He began the L & M Awards Company and Richardson Piano Store. Mr. Richardson was the first organist at the Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration and played for 25 years retiring in 1970. He was also the founder of Marcile Records and owned and operated Richardson Livestock Insurance Company that was known nationally for insuring show animals. He retired from the insurance business in 2008. Mr. Richardson was an army veteran of World War II, a member and former elder, of First Presbyterian Church, and a resident of Celebration Way for the last seven years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Brown Richardson, in 1998, and a brother, Fred Richardson.
Survivors include three daughters, Lesa Vandergriff, and her husband Mike, of Shelbyville, Holly Collins, and her husband Allen, of Nashville, and Jeanne Hice, of Huntsville, Alabama; six grandchildren, Biff Barber, Jill Deason, Jason Lamb, Katherine Harris, Haley Smith, and Nick Collins; twelve great grandchildren, Rachel Barber, Jackson Deason, Hope Faulk, Caroline Deason, Taylor Sexton, Connor Landers, Allie Belle Harris, Kylie Lamb, Elijah Smith, Micah Smith, Levi Smith, and Lydia Smith.
Memorials may be made to Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Feldhaus Memorial Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
