GLADEWATER - Services for J.L. "Jake" Norfleet, 86, of Gladewater, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2011, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel, with Gordon Grammar officiating. Burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery.
Born September 20, 1924, in Greenville, Texas, he entered into eternal rest Monday, February 14, 2011.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II.
He was a retired postmaster for the Gladewater United States Post Office. He was a member of the North Main and Gay Church of Christ.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Shannon and Stella Norfleet of Santa Cruz, California, and Mike and Debra Norfleet of Hot Springs, Arkansas; one daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Johnny Pokorny of Baytown; eight grandchildren, Chris Felder, Jonathan Pokorny, Craig Norfleet, Brett Norfleet, Shanna Norfleet, Sarah Norfleet, Shea Norfleet and Cass Norfleet; eight great-grandchildren, Ty, Nevaeh, Logan, Cooper, Conner, Erin, Payton and Samantha; two brothers, and sisters-in-law, Boots Norfleet and Frank and Paulette Norfleet , all of Greenville; four sisters-in-law, Barbara Mackey, Wanda Allard and Janie Smith, all of Gladewater, and Juanita Baird of Houston; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Norfleet.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2011, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
