  Notes from WFT Vol 2, Tree 2833: Born near Jacksonville, TX on Jan 10 1852. In 1860 moved with his family to Erath County, living on the Paluxy River at the Oxford settlement. In 1865, his parents moved to two miles north of Auburn in Johnson Co TX. Married Mahalia Jake Mackey on Dec 2 1875 and moved to Bever Creek community in Wilbarger Co in 1884. They had eight children. Two sons died at age 5. He joined Methodist church in Auburn in 1887, was a charter member of the Marvin Chapel Methodist Church at Bever Creek where he served as steward for 18 years. He helped collect molasses and other food stuff for the pastors as money was very scarce. Read his Bible daily and prayed much. He requested the hymn "Down At The Cross" be used at his funeral as that was the favorite of his little son who died many years before.
