Notes |
- Served in the Revolutionary War.
Three brothers David, John and William Armstrong, joined together to fight in what is known as the War of 1812
NAME: David Armstrong
COMPANY: 2 Reg't Mounted Gunmen's (Cannons), West Tennessee Volunteers
Rank-Induction: 1 Lieutenant
Rand-Discharge: 1 Lieutenant
Roll Box:6
Roll Exct: 602
Pension: 1851,1855 LCT; 1871 Norris Creek LCT
Received Bounty land 50 and 55 acres. I have not been able go find were this land was. On the National Archives web site it states most of the Bounty land was in Ohio.
Brothers John and William also joined the above company but the 3 appear to have been with different Captains or at least William and David did per pention papers. I cannot find pention papers for John. Both John and William inlisted and discharged as Privates. William received his pension, 1851, 1855 LCT; 1872 Rainey Creek, Coryell, TX. He also received 50 and 55 acres.
Both John and William's records are in Roll Box:6 and Roll Exct: 602. The above info (Name, Company, Rank's and Roll box, and Roll Exct) is all you need to order papers and pension records. I ordered David's and received a good deal on where he fought etc. I also ordered a archival box to keep the papers in from the National Archives. The papers are legal size and so is the box.
