- A newspaper article was written about Rev. James W. Freeman who in May 1911 killed his second wife on his farm 6 miles wouthwest of Carbondale, Jackson Co., IL. He apparently slit her throat from ear to ear. The article says that he was a veteran of the Confederate Army and that he was 65 years old, which makes him born 1846, I am assuming from TN. His murdered wife seems to have been Sarah F, Freeman, 1871-1911 and is buried in the Greathouse Cemetery in Jackson Co., IL.
