  Order of the Court. Overseer of the Poor. Apprentice to cooper 1790 2 Oct — Age: 12 Augusta County, VA George Edmunds an Orphan boy as an apprentice unto John Craig to learn the art Trade and mystery of a Cooper. Court Order--Overseers of the Poor--Apprentice to a carpenter 1792 25 Feb — Age: 14 Augusta County, VA George Edmens an ophan [sic] Boy 14 years old the 2nd Day of January last, as an apprentice . . . Carpenter. In 1830 there was a George Edmonds in Jefferson Co. TN. who was given a grant for land in Jefferson Co. TN sometime after the War of 1812 apparently for serving in the war. In the 1822 tax list George was listed under Captain Lawrence's Company but having no acerage. George is in the 1830 Census for Jefferson County. According to a book the "Related Families of the Bridges and the Edmonds" this book can be found in Marshall Co. Alabama Public Library. The author believes that George is the father of Brice A. Edmonds. After going back to the records and looking for Land Grants in East Tennessee, no Edmonds/Edmunds received any land in Jefferson County. The closest location that any did receive a Land Grant were a John Edmunds received 173 acres in Blount County in 1809 and a William Edmonds received 45 acres in 1839, also in Blount County. There was a John Edmonds in the 1800 Tax List for Blount and Jefferson County, TN.
