A chancery Court suit was filed 15 May 1948 by Nettie Sorrell McQueen against some of the heirs of William A. Sorrell in Carter Co., TN. The following heirs were named as defendants: Madonna Sorrell and Hazen Sorrell, non-residents, and residing in Laredo, TX; Beulah Hopkins Scripsick, a non-resident, and residing in the State of KS; Darrell McDowell, a non-resident and residing in the State of CA; and an only son of Norman Sorrell (deceased) whose name is unknown, a non-resident and residing in Laredo, TX.
That William A. Sorrell died intestate about 1935, seized and possessed in fee of the following tract of land in the 11th Civil District of Carter Co., TN it being the homeplace of M. E. Sorrell (now deceased) on the corner of Main and First Avenue in town of Hampton, TN. William A. Sorrell left no widow, his wife, was the late Lucinda Sorrell. Lawful children: Nettie Sorrell McQueen, Dottie Sorrell Hopkins, Madonna Sorrell Goodwin, S. J. Sorrell, James Sorrell, Roxie S. Hopkins and M. E. Sorrell.
Dottie Sorrell Hopkins deceased-one heir Rose Hopkins McQueen; S. J. Sorrell dead-heirs: Madonna Sorrell, Hazen Sorrell, living and Norman Sorrell-deceased, who left one son residing in Laredo, TX -name unknown; Roxie Sorrell Hopkins-deceased-heirs: Beulah Hopkins Scripsick, Manley Hopkins, Margartet H. Harrell, Dimple H. Emmert, Ruth Hopkins Fair, Genevieve Hopkins and Stanford Hopkins-now deceased and left only one heir-Darrell McDowell;
She claims to have purchased all other rights from the other heirs.
