- I have copy of marriage bond dated 28 Mar 1860. Bondsman was J. W. Askew Jr, (brother Joseph Wesley?) witness S. B. Moody. Marriage was performed same day by her uncle, Thomas W. Askew, J.P. per NC marriage fiche. J.J. and Lou are with her parents on the 1860 Madison Co. NC census. In 1850 she and her parents are on the census for Buncombe Co. Madison Co. was formed from Buncombe Co. in 1859.

- He was a twin brother to Hudson Oran Sarrels.
He was a Southern Pacific Railroad brakeman and was crushed between the wheels of his train in San Simon, Arizona which is near Lordsburg, NM. He had been married just about two years. Date and place taken from obituary which appeared in Arizona Daily Star on Friday, Sept. 23, 1904. Obit said he was very popular among his associates and well known in the city.
He was first buried in City Cemetery which was later moved. On 3 Jul 1915 he was reburied at Evergreen Cemetery, Tucson.
