Elijah Sorrell is the son of John and Edith Sorrell. He passed away at the age of 70 years, 11 months, and 23 days.
He was married to Caroline Bennett, December 18, 1877, they lived a happy life together for 61 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, Andrew Sorrell; and 1 daughter, Lydia Sorrell.
He survived by his wife, Caroline and 9 children, James, Finis, and Albinis Sorrell, Luella Crass, Clara Cantrell, Leta Crass, Lola Caldwell, Bessie Jackson, and Zella Gregory; 30 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Isaiah Sorrell; and 3 sisters, Mary Taylor, Mag Justice, and Nancy McCameron.
Elijah was active in all community affairs and was widely known over the county as he had been a resident of Myrtle community about 58 years.
Furneral services were conducted by Mrs. Ludie Allen at the Myrtle Pentecost Church Thursday, November 25, 1937.
