- A Robert Sorrell was a headright of Benjamin Harrison 1627 (Va. History Mag., Vol 6, p. 160) Robert was transported by Benjamin Harrison, whose land grant was dated 18 May 1637; also brought by Richard Carey in 1653. In turn, he brought in 1653, Richard Todman; Robert Powell; Catherine Mutton; Richard Downing; Nicholas Clenner; and Toby Bradley, and in 1639 he brought Seth Briggs to charles City county. (Land grants, v. 2) To Robert Sorrell, land on the island in Warreny Creek, James City County, bounded on the south by east toward Edward Cole's, northward toward Joyner's creek, southwards toward the south of Warreny Creek, and east towards the land of Bennett Freeman, for the importation of two persons.
(B.3, p.26, Nov 10, 1653) He patented 700 acres on the southwest brand of Warreny Creek adjoining Mr. Soane's land.
A Robert SORRELL came over in "The Blessing" in 1635. He had a wife and one son, James, 1 1/2 years old. His wife was Susan. He was the third son of Robert SORRELL and he was transported to VA by Benjamin Harrison, who received a grant of land for his passage, grant dated 18 May 1637. (Richmond, VA Archives Department)

Land grants, v 2: To Robert Sorrell, land on the island in Warrency Creek, James City Co., bounded on the S by E toward Edward Cole's northward toward Joyner's Crrek, southwards toward the mouth of Warreny Crrek, and E towards the land of Bennett Freeman, for the importation of two persons.
Robert Sorrell of Chickahominy in James City Co. sold to Martin Collins of York C., 497 acres purchased of John Holmwood, who purchased it of John Hamlett who acquired it of Richard Hamlett who patented it.
Land Grants, 1662/3, v. 5, p 275: To Captain Dainle Parke 528 acres of land in James City C., on W side of Rickahock Path on the E path that goes from Mr. Sorrell's to Mr. Baker's adjoing Col. Pettus and part that goes to Chickahominy Gate adjoining Mr. Sorrell. The said land sold and assigned to the said Parke by Chr. Harris, and the residue sold and assinged to him by Mr. Robert Sorrell, March 24, 1662-3.
