- Morant, in his "History of Essex" (1760) says that Bartholomew Brock of the Manor of Frier's Hall, on Sept. 7, 1601, conveyed the Rectory of Stebbing to John and Thomas Sorrell. (p 415) He also states the John Hawkins of Hide Hall "sold that estate about 1650 to John Sorrell, gent. That family were then Lessees of their parish (Much Waltham) and had also the parsonage of Stebbin." (Vol. 1, pg 85)
According to the "1634 Visitation of Essex": He was DSP (descessit sine prole; died without issue.) on Aug 26, 1626 his brother Robert would be his heir.
