  Penelope "Penny" Motley, born ca 1783 in Wake Co., married there Dec. 11, 1801 Edward Lynn, Sec. James Motley. He was the son of John and Elizabeth (Sorrell) Lynn and a brother to Patsy (Lynn) Motley. They also moved from Wake Co. in the spring of 1808 and came to Warren Co. with the family. The Warren Co. 1810 Census lists Edmund Linn (2m 2f under 10, lm If 26-45, 1 slave). Edward died in 1816. His will in Warren Co. Will Book B, dated Apr. 3, 1816 and proven May Court 1816, names wife Penny and children: John, Joseph, Nancy, Elizabeth, Martha and Polly. He left to Penny negro girl Leah and my part of my father's estate & my part of my father-in-law's estate. At her death to be divided between two sons John and Joseph Lynn. Penny's will in Will Book D, page 501, dated Nov. 6, 1854 and probated in Oct. 1859 Warren Co. Court, left to four daughter: Nancy Hays Elizabeth Ayers, Patsy Adams & Polly Motley.
