- Leo Olen Mallonee Christian County Obituaries, MO
Leo Olen Mallonee, 90, Clever, died at 7:35 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield. He was born Jan. 7, 1914, in Galena, Mo., the son of Conrad E. and Ada (Thompson) Mallonee. Leo was married to the former Jessie Mason for approximately 50 years and to this union were born three sons and four daughters. Leo and Jessie lived in Salinas, Calif., for many years where he was a diesel mechanic for a Ford truck agency. Upon retirement, they moved to Hurley where Jessie passed away in 1983. He married Gertie Wright in 1991 in Miami, Okla. They have lived in Clever the past two years. Leo was a Christian and attended the Clever United Methodist Church. Others preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Lee Roy; and two brothers, Tom and Bill. He is survived by two sons, Ray Mallonee, Los Banos, Calif., and Ralph Mallonee, Reno, Nev.; four daughters, Shirley Henderson, Velma McConville, Marie Cook and Helen Janotta, all of the Phoenix, Ariz. metropolitan area; a stepdaughter, Jean Hancock, Republic; a sister, Dorma Robertson, Crane; 17 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandson; three sisters-in-law, Merle Mallonee, Crane, Mayme Fore, O'Fallon, Ill., and Eurdee Carter, Mount Vernon; several special nieces and nephews; other relatives and wonderful friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, in Meadors Funeral Home, Clever, with Rev. Dennis Bowling officiating. Burial will follow in Wise Hill Cemetery. The Clever chapel will be open at noon Monday, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Springfield News-Leader, February 1, 2004.
