RUSSELL, SAMUEL ROBERT, SR. (DUDE) went to be home with the Lord with his family by his side on March 31, 2007. He attended Knoxville Baptist Tabernacle and was of the Baptist faith. He was employed for the past 25 years at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital and worked at East Tennessee Packing Company prior to that. Preceded in death by: wife, Elizabeth G. Russell; grandson, Bobby Russell Jr.; several brothers and sisters.
Survived by: brother, Charles Russell; sisters, Bessie Clark and Karen Wells; sons, Bob and wife Marilyn, Sam Jr. and wife Karen, Jess and wife Karen; daughters, Sandra and husband Eugene, Betty Jo and husband Gary; grandchildren, Lisa, Beth, Robby, Bill, Brian, Rusty, Heather, Paul, Jenny, Carla, Sally and Bradley; great grandchildren, Christopher, Mya, Taylor D, Hosh, Justin, Ashley, Emilee, Braden, Taylor G, Colby, Andrew R, Alex, Hailee, Chelsea, Courtney, Andrew S, Justin S, Brianna, Matthew, Sarah, Aaron and Triston.
A special thank you to all his friends at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital who loved and cared for Sam and who will sorely miss him. We also would like to thank the staff at Baptist Hospice who provided Sam with care and comfort in his final days and hours. Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Bro. Bill Dean, Bro. Bob Bevington, Bro. Albert Barlow officiating and Eulogy by Robby Simpson. Interment in Lynnhurst Cemetery. Pallbearers: Robby Simpson, Fred Cross, Bill Russell, Brian Russell, Tony Wells, Rusty Russell. Honorary Pallbearers: Jim Dellinger, Josh Hindman, Mike Hindman, Bradley Russell and Carl Lusby.
