  2 notes: My father, Leon, who was a grandson and undoubtedly would have known Manecia, when he spoke of her put the traditional "ie" ending on it. However, on her and Jackson's picture, he had the spelling as "ia." I agree with your comments as to pronunciation, spelling, etc. by Dorothy Holesapple All I know is that my dad called her "Aunt Man-icie". But any word he, or anyone in his family, pronounced that ended in "ia" always was pronounced as if it ended in the letter "i". by Jerry Lawson Manecia (Unesee) name was probably---- Eunice Ann James Eunice has two dates of birth listed, one in her own handwriting in a letter to her son. 1/26/1828 The other date listed by family records was: Feb 6, 1828. .... I believe this is the correct birth date. Chronology 1900 Census Empire City, Cherokee Co, Kansas, page 208, line 128. James M. Morris was 30 b Kansas. Father b in Wales, Mother b. Indiana. Occupation: Miner. Wife was Anna R. 28 years old. Mother in law was Manicia Farier age 73, widowed. b Feb 1837 in TN. Manecia (Unesee) stated in the 1900 census that she had 12 children, and 7 living. 1910 Census Dent Co, Missouri. Texas Township, page 263A, line 1 Lawson, Anthony age 67, farm Sarah 60,,,,,,, with children & Mother in law was Manicia Farier age 84 widowed.
