- John M James fought for the North - he was in the 1st AR Union Cavalry Co F from Nov 10, 1863 until Aug 23, 1865, where he was mustered out at Fayetteville.. Per Alwilda's Pension/War record he was mustered out at Fayetteville, AR. He had dark hair, dark complexion and hazel eyes and was 6"2" - he was also a Baptist minister as was his father John James and his son Samuel James.
