Effie Paul
Brereton-- "Mrs. Effie Paul, 90, died at 10:30 am yesterday at the
Stephens Nursing Home, Lewistown, shere she had been a patient for two
years. She was born April 24, 1877 in Smithfield, the daughter of
Roland and Arminda James. She was married to John Himegarner who died
in 1908. On Nov. 3, 1927 she was married at Quincy to Arthur M. Paul
who died earlier.
Survivors include one son, Albert Himegarner, 302 N. 7th; two
stepsons, Wm C. Paul, Glendale, MI and Arthur Paul, Jr, Moline and
several grandchildren.
Two sons, one daughter and one brother died earlier.
Mrs. Paul was the first telephone switchboard operator in the
Smithfield and Table Grove area, owned and operated a service station
at Table Grove and also owned and operated the A. M. General Store and
Service Station in Brereton.
Funeral services will be at 3pm tomorrow at the Murphy Memorial Home,
the Rev. William Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood
Cemetery. Friends may call after 4pm today. "
