Joseph Rogers James who was a Rev War veteran whose pension gives the
following information. He was b. 1756 in Bedford Co, VA (near
Lynchburg Ferry) and enlisted from Burke Co, NC. "That sometimes this
applicant was called Joseph Rogers only this being the name of
applicants mother and sometimes Joseph James only by which name he was
enrolled he cannot now say certainly."
