John C. Teague, a Miller and Surveyor by trade was born, June 21st, 1786, in Laurens County, South Carolina. He was the oldest son of the several children that William Teague ,1761-1845, and his wife Elizabeth Miller had. He moved with his parents to Wilson County, Tennessee in 1806 and later to Hardeman County. He married Nancy, born 1784 in North Carolina, died in 1861 in Hardeman County. They are both buried in Clover Creek Cemetery.
