- Obituary for Ms Helen Juanita Brooks Sorrells
Helen J. (Brooks) Sorrells
1933 – 2016
Heaven gained a beautiful angel, Helen J. Sorrells, age 83 of Fort Walton Beach. She went to be with the Lord, on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016 at 8:00 pm. There aren't many people in this world as caring, loving, and thoughtful as this lady and we were so blessed she was ours. She fought a long, hard, 3 year battle with cancer. We are heartbroken as she has left us, but grateful our beloved wife, mother, and Meme is no longer sick.
Helen was born in Greenville, AL. She has lived in Fort Walton Beach since 1956, with her beloved husband of 65 years. She worked as a cosmetologist for 30+ years and owned her own beauty shop. Her life was devoted to her family and friends. Helen loved her church, teaching Sunday School for many years, and singing in the choir.
Helen is survived by her husband, Trenton Sorrells; son, Michael Sorrells and daughter, Ann (George) Slade. She was the greatest Meme to her 5 grandchildren; Jennifer (Bobby) Lynch, Erick M. Sorrells, Nicholas (Adelia) Slade, Amanda Sorrells (Mike) Kelley, and Olivia Sorrells. She was also the best Meme to her Great-grandchildren; Micah Lynch, Ethan Lynch, Sophi Lynch, Parker Slade and Porter Slade. Survivors also include her sister, Nell Copper (Chattanooga, TN) and brother, “Bud” Brooks (Cumming, GA).
Helen will be cremated, but a service to celebrate her life, will be held at First Baptist Church in Ft. Walton Beach this Sunday, Nov 27th at 2:00pm. Our family would like to extend a special thanks to our friends for their thoughts and prayers, Regency Hospice for their care giving, and the great people at the American Cancer Center, for their support. You may leave your condolences at www.emeraldcoastfuneralhome.com.
