  Hans Adam was born in Goersdorf, Alsace. He married Maria Eva Margaretha Mueller over there and had one son that died before they came to the United States. They arrived at the Port of Philadelphia on November 30, 1750 aboard the ship "Sandwich". After 1756 and before 1773, he moved his family to the Rockingham County area of Virginia. From there his family migrated across the United States.
