Pension application of Benjamin Majors S32392 fn22SC :
State of Alabama Dallas County: On this 24th day of September in the year of our Lord 1833 appeared in Open Court before the Honorable Anderson Crenshaw one of the Circuit Judges in and for the State aforesaid Benjamin Majors a resident of said County of Dallas and State aforesaid aged 72 years who being first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the Act of Congress passed June the 7th 1832. Ans: I am acquainted with Wylie J. Sorrell and Willis Nunnelee who are now present and many others who are not present. [Mrs. Jane Grant, 65, sister of the veteran, gave a supporting affidavit] [Wylie J. Sorrell, a clergyman, and Willis Nunnelee gave the standard supporting affidavit.]
From the research of Wiley Jones SoRelle Smith, Jr., Fordyce Arkansas: "Supposedly, he was a very small man, only some five feet in height, that he was crippled in his legs, and that he walked with a cane; he ruled his family and slaves with an iron hand; he was a Hardshell preacher, and his religious belief were so hard that not one of his children adopted his religious beliefs. I am told he was well fixed, and in addition to having inherited considerable wealth, was quite successful in clearing land, about 125 acres in different tracts, selling to others, moving to another tract and repeating the process."

Wiley's parents were John William and Mary Polly Watts SoRelle.
He was a Baptist preacher.
WILEY married MAHALA VARNER on JANUARY 8,1817.
They had 9 children. Agnes Emmaline, Eliza,
Sarah Rebecca, Catherine Mahala, Prudence Florentine, Sidney Zenobia, Eleanor Caroline, Mary, and Wiley Henley Varner SoRelle.
WILEY had seven sister's. MATILDA, NANCY, REBECCA, MARY, CELIA, MARGARET, CATHERINE and four brother's SEABORN, JOHN MELTON ,JAMES MADISON and THOMAS BENTON.
Wiley donated the land for Shiloh Cemetery where he, his wife and several family members are buried.
At one time there was a church and a school on the West side of the cemetery and the SoRelle homestead was by the cemetery also.
As their children married Wiley and Ally gave each child a piece of the land they owned.
Wiley was postmaster of Campbell,Texas from October 1,1853 til November 5, 1866.
