JOHN M., b. 1806-1808; see 1830 Lowndes Co. Al, 1850 Harrison Co. Tx, and 1880 Harrison Co. Tx. censuses.
On the 1850 Harrison Co. Texas Census is listed J. M. Sorrelle, age 42 and born in AL and M.A. Sorrelle, age 22 and born in Tenn. On Ancestry.Com has a one family tree that lists John Melton Sorrelle as being married to Mary M Vincent b. 1829 and as being from Weakly Co TN. John Melton is my g-g-grandfather. His last marriage was to Permilla Miles. One of their children, Florence Valenda, married James Isum Clark. James and his wife are buried in Pontotoc, Mason, Texas.
I believe that David Crockett SoRelle was one of the two youngest children of John M. SoRelle that Permelia was thought to have murdered. The following article fits the ages of David and his older brother Samuel.

Near the Sabine river, about 12 miles from Marshall, in this county, in what is known as the Chamber neighborhood, two little children. The mother is the widow of Mr. John So Relle, who died last February. The children were aged three and four and one-half years. They had been beaten and drowned. An inquest was held.
I am trying to get info on John Melton Sorrell born 1807 in Green County, Alabama and died in 1882 in Texas. His daughter Catherine is my gr gr gr gr grandmother. I am trying to find out who Catherin's mother is. John was married about 5 times but can't find any info on his first wife. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Mickey Walker
John M. SoRelle was my ggrandfather. I am decended through his son Thomas M. SoRelle. I have a lot of information on the SoRelle and Vincent families. Do you know that Permilla Miles SoRelle was suspected of killing her two youngest children Samuel and D. Crockett shortly after the death of John SoRelle. I don't know if this case was ever resolved. The crime was reported in the Tri- Weakly Herald of Marshall, Texas on 25 April, 1882. I will share info with anyone on these families.
