Lambert V. Sorrell
Lambert V. Sorrell, 89, 509 S. Second Street, Elizabethton, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Sorrell was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Manley Eugene and Myrtle Lambert Sorrell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Fox Sorrell, and by a brother and a sister.
Mr. Sorrell was a retired mechanical engineer of the Raytheon Corporation with 30 years of service and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elizabethton.
Survivors include a son, David L. Sorrell, of the home; three daughters, Carol Ellington, Bristol, Brenda Clarke, Johnson City, and Shannon Sorrell, Stanford, Fla.; three brothers, Lon Sorrell, Winston-Salem, N.C., Luther Sorrell and Lewis Sorrell, both of Ocala, Fla.; and two sisters, Lorraine Baker, Elizabethton, and Luella Leonard, Hampton. Ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

SORRELL -- Funeral services for Lambert V. Sorrell, 89, 509 S. Second Street, Elizabethton, who died Thursday, April 26, 2001, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, with the Rev. Brent Seals officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Peterson, Harold Matherly and Jimmy Bowling. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
