I am researching James W. COCKCROFT born 1837 in Henry Co, AL. He moved to
FL in 1866 so his Civil War pension application states. I found him in 1885
Santa Rosa Co, 1910 and 1920 at Bagdad, FL. He was a merchant of a grocery
store in 1910. He owned 2 acres of land. He had a daughter Nancy born 1863
in AL who married Jack WITHERS abt. 1884 in AL or FL. They had 2 children,
James Wesley born 1885 and William Henry born 1890 in Milton, FL. Jack died
and Nancy married Marshall SORRELLS in 1893 Santa Rosa Co. Both were widows
with children. One of Marshall's children was Ida born abt. 1884 who married
J. A. WILKINSON in 1905 in Santa Rosa Co, FL. Ida and husband lived in
Milligan in 1920. My grandfather was James W. Withers who left home in 1900
at age 15 and changed his name to Whitehurst. He never went back home to see
his family. He moved back to NW FL later and saw his brother William (Will)
once. Will probably lived in Milton at the time about 1910 or 1920. I am
looking for information on this family. Would there be any cemetery records
at Bagdad area on them? Carolyn Whitehurst Nichols:GENOGRANNY@aol.com
Ida and Augustus lived at Milligan, Okaloosa Co.
DOB may be 1884
