  This was gleaned from the internet - no source: "A great personal story by their grand-daughter Emma Hargraves in 1980. Emma is passed on now, but she knew a lot about the family. She told me Thomas was half-indian. He fell in love with Mary, but she was only 16 at the time, and her parents did not approve of him being half Indian. Mary was not allowed to see him. Not to be outdone, the young lovers devised a plan. One day when the family was taking it easy, all sitting around the front porch, they heard a great war-whoop. They see Thomas, half naked to the waist, riding a pony fast as he can. He pelts into the yard, grabbing up Mary and running off with her, keeping her overnight, and forcing a wedding. Father relented and they were allowed to marry. Thomas served in the Civil War, confederate. He was walking home to Arkansas after the surrender and contracted measles. He never saw his twins born in his absence. I know this information is a family story, but she was adamant about Thomas and his Indian background. She was the source for the name Sorrelhorse. That is what she told me, and I am sure told Shirley Merrick, the author of the Baxter Co. History book."
