1. This John Sorrell Jr is the son of John Sorrell, Sr who married Catherine Arrowsmith in 1845. He shows in both the 1850 and 1860 census with his parents. He served in the same company as his father, Johyn Sr who died in the army in Nashville, TN in 1862.
2. John Sorrell Sr, father of John-Sarah Vice, married the widow Arrowsmith in 1845. Catherine was a Butler before marrying Wesley Arrowsmith. John-Catherine was the son of John Sorrell who had married Margaret Traylor in Bath County in 1822 and the grandson of Elisha Sorrell who came to the Bath County area about 1809.
3. John Sorrell, this soldier, with his wives and children lived in Bath and shows in census reports there from 1850 through 1910.

John Sorrell, 77 years old, a Union soldier, died suddenly of heart trouble Monday night at his home on White Oak. Funeral services were here Tuesday afternoon at the home, with burial in the Bethel cemetery."
