  The family of Richard Sorrell has been established from the following Caroline County record, abstracted here: "12 Aug 1818- Thomas Sorrell vs Ann Mullen in her own right and as executrix of Richard Sorrell, dec'd, and Elizabeth Sorrel by George Alsop, guardian ad litum. Thomas Sorrell, one of the devisees of Richard Sorrell, dec'd, states that his father left in his will to his wife Ann Sorrell for her lifetime. Richard left three children; viz Thomas, Elizabeth and another who died underage & w/o being married. Ann Sorrell, the widow, has married William Mullen and is Ann Mullen. Thomas Sorrell has come of age and petitions the court to divide the estate."60,61 Ann UN married William Mullen on 05 Jan 1809 in Caroline County, VA.62
