William Buchanan Engle was the son of William Engle and Nancy Stacy. He was first married to Sallie Grigsby, daughter of Thomas Grigsby and Frances "Frankie" Owen's. They had one son. Lafayette Engle. Sallie died in childbirth with their 2nd child which didn't survive. He then had a son, Sampson, by Jennie Honeycut. They were not married and Jennie did not want to raise the child so she left it with William to rear.
William then married Vicie McDaniel and had a daughter, Hulda, by her. Vicie died carrying their 2nd child. Finally on 12 Feb 1877 he married Lavina Fugate and she went on to bear him 10 children. ...Boyd, Floyd, John D., Amanda, Louraine, Clifton, Ora, Harlan, Ira and Armelda.
